The Four Axes

The first letters form your type code · neither pole is better than the other

These four axes follow structures established in political science · see how we measure →

01EconomyEquality 00%
Equality EMarket M

Values distribution, equality, and public redistribution

An economy that shares

You care about society prospering together. As much as what markets produce, you watch whether the fruits are shared fairly, and you believe the state should firmly support those in difficulty. You read a society's maturity in how wide its shared safety net is. Your vision becomes even more persuasive when funding and efficiency are considered alongside it.

02DiplomacyNation 00%
World WNation N

Values national sovereignty, identity, and interest

Sovereignty and national interest first

You think of your country's interest and identity before anything else. Protecting sovereignty and security comes before the demands of the international community, and you treasure what has long been kept. Realism and a sense of responsibility are your strengths. Since closing too many doors can mean missed opportunities, flexibility to open up when needed helps too.

03CivilLiberty 00%
Liberty LAuthority A

Values individual freedom, rights, and checks on state power

Individual liberty first

You see individual freedom and rights as a line the state must not cross. Freedom of expression and assembly and private life must be protected, and power must be steadily watched and checked. Respect for diversity and autonomy is your strength. Your conviction matures further when you also weigh how to keep order for the moments when freedoms collide.

04SocietyTradition 00%
Progress PTradition T

Values tradition, stability, and proven customs

Tradition and stability

You give weight to long-proven values and customs. You prefer a gradual, stable path over abrupt change, and you cherish the traditions and pride of the community. Prudence and deep-rooted stability are your strengths. You become even more flexible by keeping a door open to new currents.

A fun look at real historical figures mapped onto the four axes — not an academic classification

Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi1869–1948
GANDHI
Leader of India's independence movement

He pursued an economy measured by its poorest and India's self-reliance, resisted unjust power through nonviolent disobedience — and kept faith with the values of the traditional village community to the very end.

Emiliano Zapata
Emiliano Zapata1879–1919
Peasant leader of the Mexican Revolution

Remembered ever since in the words 'Land and Liberty', he fought to return stolen fields to the villages and their farmers, defying the dictatorships of Díaz and Huerta for his homeland's right to live by its own lights rather than any distant design — and found his answer in the ejido, the age-old custom of tilling the land in common.

The story of this type

The society you hope for

A society where no one close by goes hungry, yet where that help never turns into meddling or control. Where the old regular shop and the neighboring farm don't easily shut their doors, and where the familiar and the things we made ourselves come first.

Underneath these hopes is a sense that helping and interfering are only a hair apart. So this stance trusts care that rises from the heart more than care enforced from above. But there is a limit: it is moved deeply by the near person whose face it can see, and in the same measure it is slower to move for those far away, or for problems that appear only as numbers.

What you want

  • Tries to leave no one close by in hardship, while wanting that help to come from the heart rather than by force
  • Wants the old shop, the neighbor, and the things we made ourselves not to be easily pushed aside

What you might miss

  • It is moved deeply by the situation of someone close by, but far less by problems that are distant or visible only as statistics
  • Looking after the familiar and our own first can raise the threshold for people who came from outside, or for new ways of doing things

Overall Conclusion

A balanced moderate

Overall, you lean toward neither side. You weigh progressive and conservative values issue by issue, caring more about substance than camps.

Across the four axes: progressive 2 · conservative 2 — it can differ by axis.

The progressive–conservative label is a rough guide based on how this test defines its axes.
